Sometimes what is inside the can is exactly what it says it is on the label and sometimes… These paintings were inspired by a conversation with my cousin about his experiences with propagandists in Vietnam. They would hold up a can with a tomato on it and open it to show a tomato to show what Americans ate. They would then show a can with a potato on it and then show the potato inside. Finally they would hold up a jar of Gerber Baby Food with a picture of a baby on the outside and open it to show what they implied the Americans ate for dessert…
